NEUROFEEDBACK

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a proven modality that works to address the root cause of symptomatology in order to create long-lasting behavioral and mental health changes and permanent relief.

The science behind neurotherapy

Neurofeedback is a transformative therapy that helps restore your brain’s natural balance, unlocking the potential for better mental health and cognitive function.

By training your brain to regulate itself, we empower you to heal, thrive, and step into your most vibrant, confident self. Think of it like upgrading your brain—rewiring old patterns and fostering healthier, more resilient pathways.

Your brain holds the story of everything you’ve experienced. When it’s out of balance, your whole well-being is affected. Neurofeedback helps reconnect you with your brain’s natural rhythm, allowing you to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose. With an initial brain map and detailed report, you’ll gain deep insight into your unique brain patterns, guiding your healing journey. Ready to unlock your full potential? It begins with your mind.

What Can Neurofeedback Help With?

Attention and Focus

Neurofeedback has shown to be effective in improving attention, focus, and self-regulation in individuals with ADHD, by encouraging the brain to increase certain brainwaves (like beta waves) while reducing others (like theta waves).

Stress and Anxiety

Neurofeedback can help regulate brainwave patterns associated with stress and anxiety, promoting relaxation and emotional resilience. It’s often used to reduce general anxiety, performance anxiety, and panic attacks.

Sleep Improvement

Sleep disorders disrupt sleep patterns, leading to further stress and impairment. Neurofeedback can be used to address sleep disturbances by training brainwaves associated with restorative sleep, potentially improving sleep quality and overall well-being.

Cognitive Enhancement

Neurofeedback can be used to enhance cognitive functions like memory, learning, and overall mental performance to obtain peak performance.

Trauma Recovery and Resilience Building

Neurofeedback can help individuals recover from trauma by promoting optimal brain function and enhancing emotional regulation. It supports the brain's ability to adapt and rewire itself, which can be crucial for developing resilience and overcoming traumatic stress.

Improving Emotional Regulation

Life can often disrupt an individual's ability to regulate emotions. Neurofeedback can assist in stabilizing emotional responses by training the brain to maintain more balanced activity patterns, which helps individuals manage their reactions to both internal and external environments  more effectively.

Reducing Symptoms of PTSD

Research suggests that neurofeedback can be effective in reducing symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). By targeting specific brainwave patterns associated with trauma responses, neurofeedback may help alleviate symptoms such as hyperarousal, intrusive thoughts, and emotional numbing.

Facilitating Self-Awareness and Mindfulness

Neurofeedback can help increase self-awareness by providing individuals with real-time feedback on their brain activity. This heightened self-awareness can be beneficial in therapeutic settings, helping individuals understand and manage their responses more effectively.

Complementing Traditional Therapies

Neurofeedback can be used in conjunction with traditional trauma therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to enhance therapeutic outcomes. By addressing underlying brain dysregulations, neurofeedback may help amplify the effectiveness of other therapeutic interventions.

ApogeeNeuro helped me understand the struggles I endured and they were there every step of the way. I wish I took this step towards reclaiming my life sooner!

  • The neurofeedback process begins with an initial assessment, where a baseline measurement of the brain’s electrical activity is taken, often using a QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram). This helps identify any irregular patterns or areas of concern, providing a roadmap for your healing journey. The QEEG data is then reviewed, highlighting deviations from normal brainwave patterns and giving us a clear understanding of your brain’s function. In the training phase, sensors are placed on your scalp to monitor brainwaves while you engage in tasks or watch a video that responds to your brain activity in real-time, offering immediate feedback. Over time, you learn to regulate your brain activity by adjusting to the feedback, reinforcing positive changes in brainwave patterns that improve cognitive and emotional functions. Neurofeedback is used to address a variety of issues, including stress management, sleep quality, focus, and conditions like ADHD, anxiety, and depression. As sessions progress, we provide psychoeducational tools to help you integrate what you've learned into daily life, making lasting change easier to apply outside of therapy. Our goal is to help you reach a point of optimization where you can graduate from sessions and thrive in the real world, empowered by the science-backed methods of neurofeedback.

  • Neurofeedback has been approved by the FDA and deemed highly efficacious. This modality has existed since the 1960’s.

  • Neurofeedback treatment is considered to be a safe practice and is associated with minimal risk. The most common side effect is drowsiness.

  • Item descDifferent brainwaves correspond to various mental states and are measured in Hertz (Hz), which reflects cycles per second. These brainwaves can fluctuate based on numerous factors and are linked to both positive functions and negative symptoms. For instance, when slower brainwaves dominate, individuals may experience sluggishness, inattention, and feelings of depression or insomnia. Conversely, an abundance of higher-frequency waves can lead to heightened critical thinking, hyper-alertness, or anxiety, resulting in nightmares, hyper-vigilance, and impulsive behavior. An overactive brainwave can disrupt efficient functioning, while insufficient activity in a specific wave may prevent us from accessing its beneficial effects.Brainwave imbalances can arise from various influences, including genetics, trauma, stress, lifestyle choices, and behaviors, all of which affect how our brainwaves interact. The primary types of brainwaves include delta, theta, alpha, low beta, beta, high beta, and gamma; however, gamma is currently considered to have limited clinical value, as its measurement with existing EEG technology is debated.

  • Neurofeedback works by measuring and providing real-time feedback on brainwave activity, often through sensors placed on the scalp. The data is then presented visually or audibly, helping individuals learn to modify their brainwave patterns. This process encourages the brain to strengthen and reinforce more adaptive patterns, which leads to improvements in various cognitive, emotional, and physical functions.

By addressing the underlying brainwave imbalances that contribute to various conditions, neurofeedback empowers individuals to tap into their brain’s natural ability to heal and self-regulate, providing a non-invasive, drug-free solution to a wide range of challenges. Whether you’re looking to improve mental performance or seeking relief from a specific condition, neurofeedback can be a transformative tool in your journey toward well-being.

  • A Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG), also known as a brain map, is a powerful diagnostic tool used to assess brain activity and identify patterns that can be linked to various mental, emotional, and physical conditions helping clinicians assess brainwave patterns and imbalances, treat conditions like ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more, guide neurofeedback treatment, aid in counseling protocols, track and optimize brain function and personalized treatment plans to an individual’s unique brain map.
